PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih completed construction of phase one of tailing pond “Tsentranloe” – special hydrotechnical facility aimed to stock empty rock and benefication residues. The project is implemented as a part of the company’s investment program for production modernization and environmental impact reduction.

New facility was built taking into account special requirements of international and state standards – applying modern techniques, certified equipment and materials. Impervious screen made of non-toxic material – bentonite was placed inside the whole bowl of the tailing pond. It completely prevents process water ingress into underground water levels. This way it eliminates environmental footprint on adjacent areas.

The company built hydrotechnical facility on its industrial site; allocation of additional land plot was not required. Total capacity of the facility is 13.8 m3.

PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih also operates two tailing ponds – “Mirolyubovskoe” and “Obedinnennoe. Chetvertaya Karta”. With the purpose of efficient land use, the company performs systematic reconstruction of the tailing ponds increasing the level of dams and implementing environmental protection technologies for maintenance of these facilities.

PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih invested 10.7 MUSD in construction of new process facility at mining and benefication complex.
