On 24th of May 2017, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MEDT) hosted the final meeting of the Interministerial High-level Working group on adaptation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for Ukraine, which are part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The meeting was chaired by the First Vice-Prime-Minister – Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv.
The Interministerial High-level Working group was set up to determine the relevant targets and indicators of each goal for Ukraine , to coordinate the activities of 17 expert task groups on adaptation of the SDGs and to draft the National Report “Sustainable Development Goals: Ukraine”. The National Report, presented in the final meeting, contains plans and goals agreed upon. If they are achieved, it will bring economic recovery and further development of Ukraine and ensure improvement of the quality of life in the country.
The participants of the meeting were representatives of the expert community, civil society, UN agencies and the Green Economy Programme, GIZ. After discussion, a positive conclusion was drawn on the work done and the draft National Report was approved.
