PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih at ArcelorMittal Academy hosted the planned round table devoted to fulfillment of steelmaking environment commitments and improvement of environment situation in Kryvyi Rih. Among participants of the round table were representatives of local NGOs, environment activists, PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih administration, Trade union, Kryvyi Rih Executive Committee of the City Council, deputies environment commission and mass media.
During the meeting, management of PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih informed about implementation of environment actions, including planned shutdown of Twin-Hearth Furnace to shift it to the direct-flow operation, reconstruction of gas cleaning units of BOF no.4 at BOF Shop, large-scale project on reconstruction of all gas cleaning plants applied in steel process. It was informed that the large-scale environment project on reconstruction of BOFs block 2 includes commissioning of BOF no.4. The reconstruction was accompanied with construction of new high-efficiency gas cleaning plant with compact two-step scrubber of SMS Siemag, which ensures compliance with the state standard on dust – below 50 mg/m3 and reduction of dust emissions by 91%. In addition, it provides combustion of BOF gas on flare stack, enabling to reduce CO emissions by 90%.
Currently, BOF-4 is at pre-commissioning stage. PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih is open for public in terms of environment and is ready for dialogue with all its stakeholders aiming to improve environment situation in the region.
